Why is it called a mummy bag instead of a daddy bag, when most of the time it’s the husband carrying it when the couple goes out with kids. To be honest, before going out, it’s usually the wife who packs most of the items, while the husband can’t be relied on for this kind of thing, and can only help with some physical work.

Let me share the essentials to pack in a diaper bag when going out with a young baby for half a day:

Care items: clothes, diapers, wipes, bibs, baby powder, feeding supplies, etc.

Toys: various baby toys

Others: ID, wallet, etc.

I usually keep these items in the bag and don’t take them out, unless they need cleaning. I choose small packs of wipes and tissues for easy carrying. I do a check before going out to see if the amounts are enough.
